The giraffes’ movements are graceful and flowing. As they gallop across the open grasslands, their delicate, almost fragile, appearance makes it seem as if they could stumble on the slightest obstacle and topple over. That is an impossibility, because a  large male giraffe weighs up to 2,800 pounds [1,300 kg] this makes it firm on the ground. Toddlers tumble and bump their heads. Older children fall from trees and off bicycles. Athletes crash into one another on the playing field. Motorists have countless road accidents. Yet, in spite of all these falls, bumps, and crashes, we often escape without serious injury. We tend to take the toughness and resilience of our bodies for granted. IF ALL the salt in the sea were spread evenly over the land, it would form a layer more than 500 feet thick—about 45 stories high! Where does all that salt come from,? Scientists have discovered a number of sources.
